Biryani recipe with maria

 Biryani, the quintessential South Asian dish! Here's a simple recipe for a delicious Biryani:





Ingredients:


- 1 cup basmati rice


- 2 cups water

- 2 tablespoons ghee or oil

- 1 onion, chopped


- 2 cloves garlic, minced

- 1 inch cinnamon stick

- 2 cardamom pods

- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds

- 1 teaspoon coriander seeds

- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder

- 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder

- 1/2 teaspoon garam masala powder

- Salt, to taste

- 1 cup mixed vegetables (e.g., carrots, peas, cauliflower)

- 1 cup cooked meat (e.g., chicken, beef, lamb) or eggs




- Fresh cilantro, for garnish


Instructions:



1. Rinse rice and soak in water for 30 minutes. Drain and set aside.

2. Heat ghee or oil in a large saucepan over medium heat. Add onion, garlic, cinnamon, cardamom, cumin, coriander, turmeric, chili powder, and garam masala. Cook until onion is translucent.

3. Add mixed vegetables and cooked meat or eggs. Cook for 2-3 minutes.

4. Add 2 cups water and bring to a boil. Drain rice and add to the saucepan. Stir gently.

5. Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 15-20 minutes or until rice is cooked and fluffy.

6. Garnish with cilantro and serve hot!
